The National Assembly has been urged to enact laws that would protect the rights of marginalised communities to enhance social justice and achieve sustainable development in the country.
A former governorship aspirant in Plateau State, Samuel DanAuta Kyarshik, made the appeal in Abuja, during a 2nd annual national conference of The Podium, titled, “Social justice: Pillar for development in Nigeria.”
He said policy reforms, inclusive economic policies, strengthening of institutions and community engagements were key to achieving social justice in the country.
Kyarshik asked the National Assembly to “enact laws that ensure fair access to resources and opportunities for all citizens, establish legal frameworks to protect the rights of marginalised communities, develop policies that focus on reducing poverty and inequality.”

In his welcome remarks, the Chairman, Ambassador Felix Akpoi expressed optimism that with collective efforts Nigeria would be a better country.
