The Lagos State Police Command has arrested five persons over their alleged involvement in the attacks on police stations in the state.
The command said it recovered police uniforms and caps which they allegedly looted from the stations.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, who paraded the suspects before newsmen yesterday at the command’s headquarters, Ikeja, gave the names of the suspects as Bamidele Johnson, Ayo Seun, Toeeb Sulaiman, Bakare Taju and Kelvin.
CP Odumosu said as at the time of the arrests the suspects were found to be in possession of police uniforms and caps believed to have been stolen from the divisions attacked by hoodlums under the guise of #EndSARS protest.
He further said the suspects were among hundreds of others who invaded police stations, looted property before setting the stations on fire.
In his statement, Bamidele Johnson said he picked the police beret found on him close to the Layeni Police Station some hours after it was set ablaze.
Johnson said, “I found the beret on the ground while on my way home from my salon. I was not among those who attacked Layeni Police Station.”
On his part, Kelvin admitted joining other urchins in the attack on ShopRite, Lekki.
Kelvin said, “I stole a carton of groundnut oil and jeans. I found the uniform on the ground and I took it home.”
