The office of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) along Oda road in Akure and the secretariats of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been set ablaze.

Ondo State Police Command confirmed the burning of the SARS office.

Spokesman for the Ondo State Police command, Tee-Leo Ikoro, who spoke in Akure said he was yet to ascertain whether anybody was actually shot in Akure.

He confirmed the shooting in Ondo town saying it was the resilient of policemen that prevented the burning of the police headquarters in the town.

A source, however, told Daily Trust that a vehicle of the Osimowe of Ondo, Oba Victor Kiladejo was burnt while two ATM machines at the First City Monument Bank were damaged and a car set ablaze at the bank.

Eyewitnesses said the traditional ruler had sent people to speak to the youths on the protest and while that was going on some, protesting women in their hundreds came with the news that the police had started shooting, killing one person and injuring others.

The youth, it was learnt went wild and moved to the police station with the intention to set it on fire.

The source said the youths chased a particular policeman who was said to have shot at a youth inside a nearby FCMB bank but he escaped by jumping the fence.

Also, hours after the APC Secretariat by Catholic Cathedral was set on fire, PDP Secretariat in Alagbaka was also set on fire in Akure.

The two incidents have continued to generate reactions from the camps of the two parties.
