EndSARS protester docked for allegedly burning police station, TVC studio

One of the #EndSARS protesters in Lagos, Stephen Samuel was on Tuesday charged with arson before the Ikeja High Court.

The accused person and others (now at large), according to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), A.O Adeyemi; on October 21, 2020, at about 12noon did willfully and unlawfully set fire on the Shangisha Police Station and Television Continental (TVC) studio around Shangisha, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Judicial Division.

Though the accused person pleaded not guilty to the two count-criminal charges slammed on him by the office of the DPP, if found guilty for arson, he risks imprisonment for life.

Justice Adenike Coker of Ikeja High Court has fixed the trial for March 1, 2020. The trial is coming 15 months after the alleged incident.

It would be recalled that on October 20, 2020; youths nationwide trooped out to protest police brutality especially in Lagos State, which was the epicenter of the mass protest. The protest was eventually hijacked by hoodlums who seized the opportunity to loot and destroy public and individual property.
