#EndSARS protesters break into Lagos airport

Hundreds of #EndSARS protesters on Monday broke into the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos preventing movement in and out of the airport.

Daily Trust reports that the protest, which started at the tollgate of the airport, saw the protesters marching towards the international terminal.

The development caused gridlock at the ever-busy Airport Road, with some airport staff unable to access their offices because of the blockade of the road.

An airport official, who spoke with Daily Trust said, “They (protesters) took over the Oshodi-Lagos airport road and marched towards the departure side of the international airport.

“The protesters did not, however, enter the terminal as being insinuated. They only staged a walk in front of the terminal hall and marched forward. This, however, caused massive gridlock along the airport for hours.”

The development, it was learnt, did not affect flight operations at the airport.

The South-West Regional Manager of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the MMIA Manager, Mrs. Victoria Shin’aba, in a chat with our correspondent confirmed the development.
