Engineers call for improved infrastructure

This call was made by the national chairman of NIMechE, Mr Adisa Bello, during his inauguration as the 11th national chairman of the institution in Abuja.
He called on the federal government to adequately engage Nigerian engineers and challenge them to work on identified projects in the country for the development of infrastructures across the country.
“NIMechE will continue to contribute its quota and will identify with the present government and Nigerians on the imperative to give special focus on education, infrastructural development, energy, transportation and agricultural sectors,” Bello said.
He stated that the institution is ready to partner with government and private concerns to develop projects from concept, design and manufacture/production to commissioning, operations and maintenance.
Bello regretted that the multiple effects of global recession, poor policy draft and implementation, infrastructural deficiency and lack of political will in Nigeria have led to a dysfunctional system.
