Engineers set to work with Buhari

The Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) has said that Nigerian engineers are set to work with President Muhammadu Buhari in the infrastructural development in the country.
Chairman, Maitama branch of the NSE, Engr. Israel Abraham, disclosed this at the weekend while speaking with journalists shortly after inducting 240 new members into the branch.
"Nigeria is about to move into engineering projects because the president has said that infrastructure development is his priority and all the infrastructures like power, road, rail and water among others are all in engineering. So we are set to work with him to achieve that," he said.
He noted that past administrations were not committed to infrastructural development saying that a serious government would not construct one road for a period of  10 years without completion.
“But this government has shown commitment and interest in engineering projects and also fighting corruption.  If he is able to cut down corruption, it then means there would be more money for infrastructure because no one would construct a project for N10 million and inflate it to N100 million, which has been the practice in the past,’’ he said.
Engr. Israel explained that it was only engineers that could transform a nation from developing nation to developed one, saying that Nigerian engineers are only waiting for the president to kick start the process.
He however charged the newly inductees to uphold the ethics of the engineering profession so that the nation would benefit from them.
