The player who was the winner of the maiden edition of the Nigeria Ports Authority, NPA, Open held in Abuja also successfully defended the Kano Dala Hard Court title he won in 2013.
Despite a successful season, the Benin based player told SHOT! that he was not very satisfied because he could not win the CBN Open.
He said failure to win the CBN Open left a void which he is working hard to fill in 2015.
According to him, if he were able to win the tournament, he would have said the year was a highly successful one for him.
“There is no holiday for me. I am still training hard. As a matter of fact, I am working on something to enable me attend a tournament in South Africa. I am looking for sponsors.
“I have to keep myself busy before the season will commence in Nigeria. If I am to remain on top, I know I have to be in top form. Nigerian tennis is fast improving so you can be on top today and be down tomorrow,” he said.
He said 2014 was a very busy year for Nigerian tennis and if the Tennis Federation would maintain the momentum, the players will improve greatly.
“We never had it as good as year 2014. We had at least four national tournaments and three came in a row. It was a wonderful year for tennis and I hope that the tempo will be sustained”.
Enosoregbe also charged some of the upcoming players who impressed in 2013 to keep it up saying they are the future of the game in the country.
“Most of the junior players did very well but I was particularly impressed with the performances of Emmanuel Idoko, Sylvester Emmanuel and Joseph Imeh. I want to urge them to keep it up.
“It is heart warming to know that there are younger players that we can hand over the racquets to. They really did well in 2013,” he said.
