President Tinubu

Ahead of Saturday’s Governorship election in Edo State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has tasked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that the election is free, fair and credible.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Abuja, on Wednesday, National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, said the Edo election presents an opportunity for President Tinubu to write his name in gold.

This is as the party also charged voters in Edo State to be prepared, “carry their water and snacks” to the polling unit so that they can protect their vote.

PDP tasked Tinubu to impress it upon agencies of government and critical stakeholders like the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Police not to compromise professionalism and best practices during the poll.

The PDP asked President Tinubu to note that the African Union, European Union, United Nations and the entire international community are keenly interested in the Edo election, hence the President should ensure the integrity of the nation’s electoral process is protected.

“You can use your good offices to strengthen the nation’s democracy and good governance by ensuring credible election in Edo State”, he said.

“The PDP directs all our members and supporters to go their respective polling units with enough food, water, medication, mats, spare cloths, smart phones and other essential items.

“They should remain calm, law-abiding, vote peacefully but alert and ready to defend their votes. After casting their votes, they should stay back peacefully and ensure that their votes are counted and results directly uploaded before leaving,” he said.
