The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, has inaugurated the new management of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) with a charge for them to ensure safety of bank deposits.

The new appointees include Mr Thompson Oludare Sunday as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer and Dr. Kabir Sabo Katata as Executive Director (Operations).

Speaking during the inauguration, the Minister described NDIC as a critical component of Nigeria’s financial safety-net, with a vital role in ensuring economic stability and prosperity.

He urged the new management to deploy their wealth of experience in delivering on the Corporation’s mandate, while assuring them of the ministry’s full support.

In his response, Sunday, who spoke on behalf of the new management, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve.

He pledged the team’s commitment to meeting the expectations of both the President and Nigerians. “We’ll uphold public trust in the NDIC and deliver on our statutory mandate,” he said.
