Ensuring justice in Zamfara

We call on the Supreme Court to set aside the prior consequential order issued in respect of the Zamfara State election and instead declare the All Progressive Congress (APC), defacto and dejure winners of the Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly polls based on the following under-listed reasons. That the intra-Party crisis and in the APC had nothing to do with the People Democratic Party (PDP) and wondered why the court decided to award votes legally cast for APC to the opposition. This call becomes necessary in order to redeem the image of the Supreme Court as the last hope of the masses; and to ensure fairness, equity and justice. We equally wish to state that it was unthinkable that all the Senatorial seats to wit the House of Representatives and those of the State Assembly were unopposed for APC members and therefore required no primary given that all the disparate tendencies in the APC sumptuously collaborated to midwife the victors.

But as the Supreme court is prepared to rule on the appeal filed by the APC on Tuesday, we are appealing for review of the prior ruling so that the apex court can do the needful in order to redeem its image and give justice to whom justice is due. We are aware that people in Zamfara State are overwhelming APC and voted for APC in all the elections and are hereby using this medium to appeal for the return to authenticity and the return of the respective mandates as per offices contested for. Accordingly, having legally been on the ballot during the poll, it will be in tandem with the letter and the spirit of the law if the apex court reconsiders its earlier stand and procedurally restore the wishes of the Zamfara people as expressed through the plurality of votes cast for the APC.

We contend on the basis of empirical variables and in consonance with all the laws of mathematics and logic that the ruling of the Sokoto Appeal court was defective in all materials particular because the court erred in granting reliefs which were sought after the court of competent jurisdiction to wit the State High Court ruled to the contrary, In the foregoing, we wish to clarify that we cannot place the entire onus for the ultimate denouement of the election outcomes on technicalities.

Finally, our prayer is for the mandate to be given back to the Governor and the Deputy Governor, the three Senators, seven House of Representatives and twenty four State House of Assembly Members all of whom are of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
