Some key players in the Nigerian entertainment industry spoke to Weekend Magazine on the abductions on April 14, 2014.
For Steve Gukas, director of widely acclaimed movie, ‘A Place in the Stars,’ it was an unfortunate incident to start with and it was poorly handled in the sense that communication and attempts at finding them were not properly coordinated.
“Government owed it to the parents to admit that they were kidnapped, let them know they were doing the best to find them and crave their patience and understanding,” he said.
Gukas said he is however, encouraged by the turn of events against terrorism and is hopeful the girls would be found. “I wish nothing more for them to be found whole, alive and in good health,” the father of three said.
Kannywood director, Ishaq Sidi Ishaq, said his thoughts were prayers and hope, that the girls be found.
Ishaq advised that: “Speculations are what people should not take control in confirming incidents. I wish to see that someday smiles fill their faces and those of their loved ones.”
‘Tinsel’ star, Ashionye Raccah said: “It is a very sad situation. As a  parent, you never want any harm to come to your child. You want to  protect them and keep them safe. I can not begin to imagine the pain  these parents must be going through; one year without any knowledge of  the whereabouts of their daughters.”
 The mother of one added that: “I believe in God and I know a miracle  will happen soon and they will return safely. We must not forget them  or their families. #bringbackourgirls”
Actor and model, Ik Ogbonna said: “As a citizen of the world and a Nigerian, it is very sad to lose or miss anyone. I was created out of love and so I was created to love, not hate.”
He added that: “No one knows the true story or the situation of this girls but I personally believe they would be found one day and this fight against terror would end sooner than we even expect. God is not sleeping and the new government I believe would not sleep. My respect goes to all those soldiers who left their families and lives to fight terror.”
The industry had in June last year released two movies, ‘Lost students’ and ‘The missing school girls,’ which chronicled the events surrounding the abduction of the girls.
