Entrepreneur sponsors Kogi, Oyo youths for programme to mark his birthday

Entrepreneur and philanthropist, Michael Awujoola, popularly known as Malivelihood, has sponsored 100 young people from Kogi and Oyo states to participate in the SkillUp Earn Up Program, a digital skills initiative focused on social media management, artificial intelligence, and content creation.

The initiative, launched in celebration of his birthday, is tailored to equip participants with the expertise needed to thrive in today’s digital economy. With both states boasting dynamic and ambitious youth populations, the program is expected to deliver significant economic impact by creating new income streams, supporting small businesses, and reducing unemployment.

According to Malivelihood, the initiative is about more than training, it’s about long-term transformation. “When young people learn skills that are in global demand, they can build sustainable careers, create businesses, and contribute directly to the growth of their communities. This program is an investment in human capital that will bring economic returns to these states and to Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

Economists have pointed out that digital skills training of this kind can stimulate local economies. In Kogi, where agriculture and trade dominate, social media management and content creation can help small businesses reach wider markets. In Oyo, a state known for its vibrant culture and growing tech scene, AI and digital entrepreneurship training can accelerate innovation and job creation.

The SkillUp Earn Up Program will run in structured phases, combining classroom learning with practical mentorship. At the end of the program, participants are expected not only to gain certification but also to apply their new skills toward building digital enterprises and supporting local industries.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the opportunity, describing the scholarship as a bridge to financial independence and global relevance.
