Organisers of the Nigerian Students Poetry Prize (NSPP) under the auspices of Poets in Nigeria (PIN) have called for submissions for this year’s edition of the contest. 

The organisers in a release said submissions commenced on February 15 and will end in the second week of April after which winners will be announced a month after.

The first prize winner will be entitled to the sum of N100, 000, second prize N60, 000, and third N40, 000.

Aside rewarding winners with cash prizes, the top 100 entrants will be published in a globally distributed eBook.

NSPP, an initiative of PIN was designed to stimulate creativity, promote literary excellence and broaden the concept of intellectualism among Nigerian undergraduates in Nigeria and the Diaspora. The maiden edition of the prize was inaugurated in 2016 and received 320 entries from 64 tertiary institutions.

Winners from last year were Noah Oladele from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Chinelo Nwangwu (University of Ibadan, Oyo State) and Chisom Okafor (University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State).
