A coalition group under the auspices of the Ebubechukwu Uzo Coalition has thrown its weight behind the senatorial ambition of Jeph Afam Ogbodo ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group announced its endorsement in Enugu on Wednesday after what it described as months of consultations with political leaders, community stakeholders, youths, women and residents across Nkanu Land and other parts of Enugu East Senatorial District.
Speaking on behalf of the coalition, the Founder and Convener, Hon. Sampson Ebubechukwu Ukwu, said the movement was founded on the belief that individuals with character, vision and commitment to public service should be encouraged to seek leadership positions.
According to him, Ogbodo possesses qualities the coalition believes are needed to provide effective representation for the district.
“Among those who have indicated interest in the Senate seat, Hon. Jeph Afam Ogbodo stands out because of his connection with the people and his understanding of the challenges facing communities within Enugu East Senatorial District,” Ukwu said.
The coalition described Ogbodo as a grassroots politician from Akegbe-Ugwu in Nkanu West Local Government Area, adding that his relationship with residents has continued to earn him support across different communities.
“He understands the aspirations of the people because he has remained close to the communities over the years. We believe he has the capacity and determination to contribute positively to the development of the district through quality representation,” he said.
The group also expressed confidence in Ogbodo’s ability to attract development projects and promote policies that would benefit youths, women and local communities.
“Enugu East deserves representation that is accessible, people-oriented and focused on development. We believe Ogbodo has the competence and commitment to pursue initiatives that will benefit the district,” Ukwu stated.
The coalition maintained that its endorsement was based on Ogbodo’s perceived credibility, leadership qualities and track record of community engagement.
“We are supporting him because we believe in his vision and his willingness to serve the people. This endorsement is rooted in our conviction that he can provide purposeful leadership for the district,” he added.
The group called on residents of Nkanu West, Nkanu East, Enugu South, Enugu East, Enugu North and Isi Uzo Local Government Areas to support Ogbodo’s ambition ahead of the 2027 elections.
It also encouraged supporters to remain peaceful, mobilise support for the campaign and continue advocating for good governance and community development.
“The silence is over. The right man is here,” the coalition declared.
