Kingsley Obiekwu, a participant and coach of Ingas FC of Enugu, said the training would help them in their job and commended the state FA for initiating the programme.

“I am privileged to be trained as a coach from the United Kingdom. But I am happy to find myself here because what I learnt here was almost the same thing.

“I advise other coaches who participated to be involved in future training to improve on their jobs. I believe it will be an ongoing exercise,” Obiekwu said.

Another participant, Sunny Nwenyi, a sports officer with Enugu State Police Command, said he learnt the importance of communication between players and coaches during matches.

“I promise to utilise the knowledge to effect changes in my team.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the course aimed to  acquaint the coaches with modern football techniques.

Livinus Agwu, Acting Director of Sports, Enugu State Sports Council, commended the effort of the FA in organising the training.

Agwu advised the participants to utilise the opportunity given to them to move football forward.

“We appreciate your efforts and participation in this programme. This will improve your knowledge to do your jobs better.

“We play to entertain, earn a living and enhance ourselves. Now people will come to watch new technique of football in Enugu because of what you have learnt,’’ he said.

Chidi Ofo-Okenwa, the FA chairman, expressed the belief that the participants had been well equipped for their assignments.

“I believe they have been equipped with new knowledge of football. We expect them to go out and show good example,” Okenwa said.

Dominic Nwobodo, a resource person for the programme, said he was impressed because the training would enhance the performance of the coaches.

“I think the participants have imbibed the techniques of football which is very important,” he said.
