The Enugu State Government has recovered N1.284 billion from the CEO of Sujimoto Luxury Construction Limited, Olasijibomi Ogundele, following investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged diversion of funds.

The funds were reportedly meant for the construction of Smart Green Schools in the state.

The recovered amount was formally handed over at the EFCC Enugu Zonal Office through bank drafts and cheques.

Presenting the funds, the EFCC Zonal Director, Daniel Ise, said the recovery followed a petition submitted by the Enugu State Government, prompting investigations by the commission.

He explained that N1.234 billion was recovered through bank drafts, with an additional N50 million, bringing the total to N1.284 billion.

Ise stressed that the recovery did not mark the end of the investigation, noting that the EFCC would pursue full recovery and prosecution where evidence of criminality is established.

Receiving the funds, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, commended the EFCC for its professionalism.

He said the recovery reflects the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, adding that the funds would be reinvested in critical infrastructure projects.
