Environment ministry inaugurates governing boards

The members who were drawn from both private and public sectors are to advise government in the management of the agencies including the National Park Service, National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) and the Forestry Research institute of Nigeria.
Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, Supervising Minister of Environment said at the ceremony that the board has enormous task of keeping Nigeria’s environment clean. He said: “in order for the agencies to be alive to their responsibilities, the government counted it important to have the governing boards in place,”
He appealed to individuals, private organizations and corporate organization to compliment the effort of government by keeping the environment safe.
Ishaku informed the chairmen that their selection was based on their integrity and past achievements.
The Chairman of NOSDRA Board, Major Lancelot Anyanya, responding unbealf of the other chairmen commended President Goodluck Jonathan for giving them the opportunity to contribute their quote to the growth of the environment sector.
