About 20 KAI officials stormed the stall and took the rams one after the other into their truck before they drove off to their office at Alausa.
Speaking on the issue, Mr Tunde Olusesi, Public Relations Officer of the brigade, told newsmen that the rams were impounded by officials for constituting environmental nuisance.
He said the traders were putting them up for sale on a road, adding that the site was not the right place to sell rams.
“The traders ignored earlier warnings not to sell rams in that place, which is a road setback. That is not a ram market. We had no option but to enforce the state`s environmental law to serve as deterrent for others who might want to breach the law,” he said.
Olusesi said the impounded rams would be released to the traders after signing undertakings that they would not return to the location.
“The rams will be released only if the traders will assure us they would not trade their animals on road setback.
“There are markets for rams and I hope they will learn their lessons and move to the right place,” he said. (NAN)
