The African Ambassadors’ Group in Nigeria has donated learning materials and equipment worth N4.7 million to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) School for Blind Children.

The materials included 100 Braille and embosser papers each, 100 guide or mobility canes and 15 Braille machines, according to a statement from the Liberian Embassy in Abuja.

The donation forms part of this year’s Africa Day observance being held under the theme “Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investments in Youth”, the statement added. 

The High Commissioner of Cameroon and the Dean of the Africa Diplomatic Group, Solaheddine Abbas Ibrahima, presented the donations on behalf of the group of African envoys during the indoor ceremony which held on the school’s premises in Jabi, Abuja. 

Responding, Mrs. Regina Dung, the school’s Head Teacher, thanked the envoys for caring for their educational needs, saying the donation was timely. 

“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see,” Mrs. Dung remarked. According to her, the school’s enrollment currently stood at 138 pupils, with nearly all of them boarding, supported by 25 teachers.
