In related news, Akwa United players have completed their mandatory medical tests in preparation for the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The club’s head of medical department, Dr. Obot Jackson, disclosed that all players underwent an Electrocardiogram (ECG) test to monitor the electrical signals produced by the heart during each beat.
Dr. Jackson emphasized the importance of understanding the players’ heart conditions before they participate in matches.
“The test is important to individual players and the club, so we had to confirm that they are all in good condition to play.
” If during the examination we observed any issue about a particular player, it’s our place to offer professional advice but we are delighted that they all came out clean,” Jackson told Akwa United’s media.
The former NPFL champions will engage Lobi Stars in their opening match of the new campaign.
