The Nigerian champions have thus recorded 11 points from five matches in Group A.

It was their second away victory in the series as they also beat Cotonsport of Cameroon 3-2 in Garoua in July.

The Sudanese giants Al Hilal remain in second place on seven points.

Cotonsport will host Raja Casablanca of Morocco Saturday in the northern town of Garoua. They have four points from as many matches.

A win at home for Cotonsport will see them close in on Al Hilal.

Enyimba will host the Cameroonians in their final group game on September 18, while Al Hilal will play away at Raja, who are bottom of the standings on two points.

The other team to join Enyimba in the knockout semifinals of the competition will most certainly be decided on the final day of action.

Zimbabwean striker Edward Sadomba again proved to be a big factor for Al Hilal as he netted for his Sudanese club after just four minutes of action.

In the first clash in Aba in July, Sadomba scored a brace in a 2-2 draw with the Nigerian champions.

It was Sadomba’s fourth goal in the group phase of the competition as he was also on target in the home game against Raja.

Nigeria ‘B’ international left back Valentine Nwabaelli drew level for Enyimba in the 68th minute.

Enyimba then grabbed the winning goal through a penalty converted by Samuel Tswanya on the stroke of full time to deal a serious blow to Al Hilal’s title dreams.
