Nigeria’s CAF Champions League representatives, Enyimba will face Sudanese side, El-Merreikh SC after booking a spot in the first round with a 2-1 aggregate win over Rahimo on Sunday in Aba.

The People’s Elephant who had defeated Rahimo 1-0 in Burkina Faso in the first leg, drew 1-1 in Aba to advance.

El-Merriekh qualified for the second preliminary qualifying round after a 3-1 aggregate win over AS Otoho of Congo.

In the second tier competition, Rivers United were paired against South Africa club side, Bloemfontein Celtic in the first round after the preliminary round was concluded at the weekend.

It will be recalled that Rivers United qualified for the first round after overcoming Equatorial Guinea side, Futuro Kings 2-0 on penalties as both legs ended on 3-3 aggregate.

Ospini Egbe was the hero for the ‘Pride of Rivers’ with the penalties saved at the Adokiye Amiesimka stadium.

According to CAF, the first-leg matches will be played on 22 and 23 December 2020, and the second leg on 5, 6 January 2021 with the first-named teams hosting the first leg matches.
