The World Health Organization(WHO) has engaged stakeholders from the Ministries of Health, Livestock, Environment and Agriculture on the level of preparedness and response to outbreak or epidemics.

WHO Team Leader for the North East Nigeria Health Emergency Operation, Dr Samuel Yanyi, held a meeting with the stakeholders at Eagles Path Hotel, Yola, Adamawa State, on Wednesday.

Dr Yanyi explained that the meeting was to prepare the state to be able to have some form of security for any possible infectious disease.

The meeting which was organized by the World Health Organization (WHO), supported by the United States Agency for International Development(USAID), and led by the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), consisted of internal assessment, external assessment and a plan to be able to respond to any possible infectious disease that out to come.

The Director of Planning Research and Statistics from Adamawa State Ministry of Health Dr. Stephen John, reiterated that even though the State do not have human resource like others but the community leaders, decision-makers and politicians were always volunteering to help with the response.

He applauded Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s commitment to providing an enabling environment to help with emergencies whenever there was an epidemic in the state.
