EPL: Late Trossard Goal, VAR Drama Hand Arsenal Crucial Win Over West Ham

Arsenal moved a step closer to the Premier League title after a dramatic 1-0 victory over West Ham United in a tense London derby at the London Stadium.

The encounter was filled with chances, controversy and late drama as the Gunners edged closer to ending their 22-year wait for the English top-flight crown, courtesy of a late strike from Leandro Trossard.

Trossard came close to opening the scoring in the early stages but saw his effort crash against the post, while Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya produced a superb save to ensure the visitors went into the break level.

West Ham looked the more threatening side after halftime, but Raya delivered a series of impressive stops to register his 18th league clean sheet of the season.

With seven minutes left, Trossard finally broke the deadlock, ending a 14-match league goal drought with a composed finish to hand Arsenal the advantage.

The drama intensified in stoppage time when West Ham thought they had found an equaliser, only for a lengthy four-minute VAR review to rule out the goal and preserve Arsenal’s lead.

The defeat marked West Ham’s sixth consecutive home loss in a London derby and leaves them stuck in the final relegation spot.

Arsenal, meanwhile, are now five points clear of second-placed Manchester City with just two matches remaining, while City have three games left to play as the title race heads into a tense finale.
