A spokesperson for the communities, Chief Michael Ndukwe noted that if drastic measures were not taken, the Asaga Ohafia erosion would soon render members of the communities homeless.
 Ndukwe noted that the erosion site is bent on rendering members of his community homeless if not curtailed.
Ndukwe made this observation when officials of the Ministry of Environment in the state led by the Permanent Secretary, Elder Bernard Ogbonna, paid an on-the-spot assessment visit on the erosion site in the areas.
The community leader regretted that much effort made by the community to curtail the erosion from encroaching proved abortive as the community could not shoulder the financial burden of checkmating the erosion site in the area.
 According to Ndukwe,  “Officials of Federal Ministry of environment have visited this place but as we speak to you, no visible effort has been made by the authority concerned,” he noted with dismay.
Speaking with Daily Trust on the effort made by the state government in combating the devastating erosion site, the Permanent Secretary said “The state government has taken steps to control further devastation along Ugwu Abba Asaga Ohafia which was caused by water run-off.”
