The World Bank has approved N6.9 billion for erosion control works on the Nnewi-Ichi erosion site in Anambra State.
The state governor, Chief Willie Obiano who disclosed this at Eneta-Edo square, Nnewi, revealed that the state government has paid N1billion as its counterpart contribution, assuring that work would commence on the site immediately the rains subside.
He said about 37 roads in the council area were being constructed, some of which have been completed, while communities in Nnewi North and South would soon enjoy 16-hours power supply daily occasioned by the expansion of the Obosi injection power substation.
