Residents of eastern states are now living in fear following the destruction unleashed on farmlands, homesteads and roadways by erosion.
Statistics has it that Anambra, Abia, Imo, Enugu and Ebonyi states have over 750, 650, 500, 400 and 250 major erosion sites respectively.
Efforts to however address this menace have spanned over the years but residents said efforts must be made to save them and their households.
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra last weekend called on the federal government to urgently intervene on the Nkpor Flyover that has been cut off by erosion.
Obiano, made the call while inspecting the devastation caused in NKpor Flyover, Idemili North council area of the state.
Chief Obiano assured that he has directed a road construction company, Infrastructure Development Company (IDC), to apply palliative measures on the road pending the intervention of the federal government.
