Some houses threatened by gully erosion at Anguwar Kashew area in Kwali Area Council
Residents of Anguwar Wadata in Abaji Area Council of the FCT have sought the intervention of the FCT Administration (FCTA) over a gully erosion threatening some parts of the area.
The Youth Leader of Anguwar Wadata, Abdulhamid Labaran, while speaking when he conducted our reporter to the erosion site on Wednesday, said it was on the verge of washing away some houses.
Labaran explained that the erosion started expanding over two years ago, noting that the situation became worse this year after a heavy downpour that affected some houses.
He said that some of the affected house owners hardly slept at night whenever it rained over fear that their houses might collapse.

He further said, “We have been mobilising youths to fill sand inside bags of cement to support the houses that are being threatened. We also use sandbags to divert water coming from the road.”
Labaran, therefore, appealed to the authorities of the council under the leadership of Abubakar Umar Abdullahi to liaise with the FCTA in order to urgently come to their aid.
City & Crime recalls that the immediate past FCT Minister, Muhammad Musa Bello, two years ago, commissioned an erosion control project in Wadata Extension which was executed by the Ecological Fund Office.
