A property and investment firm, Perfection Real Estate Investors Cooperative Society has revealed plans to make available to  Nigerians, affordable mass housing scheme that will help in addressing the challenges of homelessness.

At a quarterly meeting of the cooperative members in Lagos, the president,  Niyi Adeleye said the property and investment firm was on a rescue mission to help many Nigerians who are in dire need of affordable shelters.

He said that assistance has even become expedient in view of Nigeria’s rising population and the challenges of homelessness.

 “Records had shown that Nigeria is in shortage of an excess 17 million housing units even when our population, as projected by the United Nations, has not reached the third biggest in the world by the year 2050. To bridge the gap, we are aware that government will have to expend trillions of naira,” he said.

“We considered the worrying statistics as one that must be tackled headlong and must not be left for the government alone, thus, our decision to embark on a rescue mission by making home ownership and real estate participation accessible to average Nigerian who is desirous of being in charge of their own accommodation and shelters,” Adeleye said.
