The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, on Wednesday, called for calm over rising ethnic tension in the country.
The South West monarch stressed the need for peaceful coexistence and tasked leaders at all levels to redouble effort in stemming the tide of insecurity and restoring peace in the country.

The 94-year-old oba, in a statement he personally signed, said, “I want to call on all Nigerians to strive to live in peace at all times.
“A lot of us have resided in different parts of the country for years; making a living and interacting peacefully with the host communities.
“As a 94-year-old traditional ruler who had lived in Jos, Plateau State, for 30 years before ascending the throne of my forebears in 1973, I appreciate the need for peaceful coexistence.
“Our security challenges may appear daunting but they are not insurmountable. We should all cooperate with one another to find lasting solutions to them.”
The monarch also appealed to the Nigerian media to exercise caution in disseminating information in order to ensure peaceful coexistence in the country.
