The incessant attacks on the poor, innocent people by gunmen in Nigeria is appalling, especially in the Northern part of the country.

The increase in the attacks is alarmingly daring. There are reports of attacks on people in their houses, on transit, in their farms almost every day and many attacks remain unreported.

Insecurity is a major problem affecting the growth and development of a country, it slows the progress of a given society, thereby, causing it to retard.

People are scared of moving, going out or travelling as they fear attacks by these heartless bandits, who are out there waiting for innocent people to devour.

It is the duty of the government to protect the lives of its citizens and to ensure their safety and security in every part of the country.

There is need for the government to take drastic measures in tackling the issue and punishing the perpetrators of these awful acts.
