The NEXHUB Abuja Export Conference 2024 successfully concluded on Wednesday, solidifying Nigeria’s position as a key player in the global non-oil export market.
Under the theme “Navigating the Future of Non-Oil Export,” the event gathered industry leaders, government officials, and businesses to explore innovative pathways for enhancing Nigeria’s export sector.
A standout moment was the inaugural shipment of 20 containers of sesame seeds, cassia tora, and mica to China by NEXHUB Abuja subscribers, a significant milestone that exceeded the the initial 10 containers, showcasing the remarkable growth potential of the non-oil export sector.
The conference featured esteemed speakers, including the President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (NACCIMA), and the Managing Director of NEXIM Bank, represented by Executive Director of Business Development, Mrs. Stella Okotete.
They provided valuable insights into the future of non-oil exports, emphasizing the crucial role of the private sector in driving Nigeria’s economic diversification.
In her inspiring address, Mrs. Okotete energized attendees by highlighting the untapped opportunities within Nigeria’s export market. She commended NEXHUB for its user-friendly platform that simplifies the export process, particularly for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
“NEXHUB is here to handhold you through the export process, providing the support you need to succeed. Whether it’s raw materials, creative designs, or even waste products like sawdust, everything can be exported,” she stated.
Mrs. Okotete emphasized that platforms like NEXHUB, along with the financial backing from NEXIM Bank, empower Nigerian businesses to thrive on the global stage.
She further encouraged participants, saying, “Through NEXHUB, you can seize this season’s opportunities for exporting sesame seeds and hibiscus flowers. What’s your excuse for not exporting? Eleven or fourteen women can join hands to export one container. It costs about 14 million Naira to export one container of hibiscus flowers, and the rewards are far greater than joining a Ponzi scheme.”
The conference concluded on a high note, with engaging panel discussions that focused on strategies to boost non-oil exports, highlighting the importance of quality and volume. Mrs. Okotete’s powerful message of hope and collaboration resonated with the audience, many of whom expressed renewed optimism for Nigeria’s export sector.
With NEXIM Bank and NEXHUB providing comprehensive support, Mrs. Okotete confidently stated, “Poverty can be eradicated if we all embrace the export opportunity. Together, we can make Nigeria great.”
