An FCT High Court has ordered parties not to sell items removed from four displaced children of former military governor of Akwa Ibom State, Idongesit Nkanga, over their eviction from the residence.
The wife of the ex-governor, Mosunsola Nkanga had in June reportedly removed the properties of the four children from the family house at No 3A and B Mary Slessor Close off Udo Udoma Street, off Yakubu Gowon Road, Asokoro in Abuja.
Justice Othman Musa, while adjourning the matter to September 1, ordered Mosunsola and others not to sell any of the items removed from the property pending the determination of the suit.
The order followed a motion brought by counsel to the children, Barrister Inibehe Effiong, informing the court that its earlier warrant of possession of premises in suit no: FCT/HC/CV/168/2021 issued on March 24, 2022 for the vacant possession of two rooms’ apartment in the property, have been wrongly executed by touching the part not included in the will.
Those evicted are Utibeabasi Idongesit Nkanga, Etietop Nkanga, Lance Okon Nkanga and Ini Idara Nkanga, who are children of the ex-military governor’s former wife, Joanna Madiaha Achibong.
He said the ex-governor had willed that the children should be allowed to stay in the property until the last of them turns 30, adding that he is still 25.
However, counsel to the judgment creditor (Mosunsola), Marvin Omorogbe Esq, argued that there was no urgency in entertaining the motion, maintaining that the defendants are not homeless as the lawyer suggested.
