Ex-ABU DVC, Kwanashie is dead

An astute university administrator and former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Dr George Kwanashie is dead.

 A statement issued Friday noted that the academic icon died on April 25.

“Dr George A.  Kwanashie served at the Department of History Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Federal University, Lokoja and the Gombe State University on visiting capacity. 

“He was a long-time colleague and collaborator of the late Dr Yusuf Bala Usman, with whom he edited several volumes on modern Nigerian history. 

“He served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) during the tenure of the late Professor Abdullahi Mahadi as Vice Chancellor. 

“The burial arrangement would be made known in due course,” the statement noted.
