Some ex-agitators from the Niger Delta under the aegis of Concerned Niger Delta Youths have countered “propaganda” against the founder of Tantita Security Services, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo; Administrator, Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro; Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, High Chief Kestin Pondi; and others.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja, the ex-agitators called on the federal government and international community to disregard the allegations saying they were sponsored by crude oil cabals and barons, fighting back against the war on crude oil theft.
General’ Emma Satu, leader of amnesty phase 3, said: “It is a well known fact that since the award of pipeline surveillance contract to Tompolo’s company, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, pipeline vandalism and oil theft in the oil rich Niger Delta region has almost become extinct like the dinosaurs.
“For the sake of clarity, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro as Amnesty Administrator has exhibited transparency, accountability and prudent management of amnesty funds. A recent audit of the Amnesty Office showed he has performed creditably since his appointment.
“The Amnesty Office that was characterized by unwholesome practices has now been sanitized, Beneficiaries are paid their monthly stipend regularly and on time and the core objective of the programme is being achieved.”
The ex-agitators urged the “federal government through the National Security Adviser, Service Chiefs and Inspector General of Police to double their effort towards all peace initiatives in the Niger Delta.”
They also called on the “international community to give much needed support to the people of the region, whose means of livelihood, which includes rivers, farmlands and crops have been destroyed due to oil exploration activities of multinationals.”
