The high rate of ethnicity and sectional interest, according to him had taken over the professionalism and the excellence of the NUJ. Prince Memaiyetan said “rancour, bickering and infighting in the professional and industrial union would not augur well at this time when all hands must be on deck to fight for freedom of information (FOI) Bill.”

He further said, “It is not of interest to allow external forces to meddle in the affairs of the chapel and that their employers must not know about the on-going in the union until they failed to resolve among themselves in compliance with the NUJ in Kano State”.

The chairman therefore urged journalists to be fair in performing their noble duties by upholding the truth which he said would contribute meaningfully to socio-economic development of the profession.
