The Ogun State police command yesterday arrested an ex-convict, Ayomide Ifabode, for allegedly stealing a car a few days after he was freed from prison for a similar crime.
Ifabode, who was alleged to have stolen a Nissan Almera saloon car registration number AAB 87 TF, was arrested on Monday at Ototo village along Kobape road, Abeokuta, where the police said he took the vehicle to after removing it from where the owner had parked it at the Ijeun Titun area of the metropolis.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the owner of the vehicle, Okeowo Ahmed, had reported at the Ibara division that his vehicle was removed from he had parked it by an unknown person.
According to the statement, Ifabode had confessed to committing the crime.
“On interrogation, the suspect confessed he removed the car from where it was parked using a master key. He also confessed that he was recently released from prison where he had served time after he was convicted of a similar crime.
