The immediate past deputy governor of Kwara State, Elder Peter Kisira has died.

Late Kisira succumbed to diabetes at a private hospital in Ilọrin in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 74, his eldest son, Adam, told Daily Trust on Sunday Saturday.

He was survived by his wife, Felicia Bake and four children – Adam, Deborah, Noah and Salome.

He deputised former Governor Abdulfattah Ahmed from 2011 to 2019.

Adam said the family would sit for a meeting to discuss his burial arrangements later.

Describing his last moments, Adam told our correspondent that his late father died of old age and more of diabetes.

“He had been sick for some time and when we went to see him, he held onto my wife’s hand until I forcefully removed it. I told him if you are doing this as a sign that you are going soon, it will not work; you would be with us here much longer. But about three days ago, he stopped talking until he died around midnight,” he said.

In his condolence message, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq described the incident as sad.

He urged the family and people of Ilesha Baruba in Baruteen Local Government Area to take solace in his fine legacies as a public servant and a bureaucrat who rose to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the state’s civil service.
