A former Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development in Kano State, Garba Yusuf Abubakar, has declared his intention to contest the Kano Central Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during his declaration on Sunday, Abubakar said his decision to join the race was heavily influenced by the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), which urged him to run.
He explained that after careful reflection, he accepted the call to contest, while urging his supporters to engage in politics without bitterness or insults.
“I will support whosoever emerges as the candidate if I eventually lose the primary to someone else,” he assured.
The Campaign Director, Muntari Ishaq Yakasai, noted that the party has made it clear there will be no automatic tickets, stressing that Abubakar is entering the race with strong conviction. He urged supporters to commence grassroots work immediately, adding that formal campaign organizations would soon be inaugurated.
The Director-General of the National Productivity Center (NPC), Baffa Babba Dan-Agundi, added that the TSG’s endorsement was based on Abubakar’s extensive track record in public service.
He recalled that Abubakar served as a commissioner across nearly five ministries during the administrations of former Governors Ibrahim Shekarau and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
