An FCT High Court sitting in Maitama has granted bail to former Governor of Jigawa state, Senator Saminu Turaki.

Turaki was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on July 4th while attending a public event in Abuja.

A Federal High Court in Jigawa state in 2014 issued bench warrant for his arrest when he failed to appear before the court to take his plea despite court summons demanding his presence.

Justice Yusuf Halilu in admitting Turaki to bail today ordered that he deposit his travelling documents with the court registry.

The court also ordered that he present two sureties that are resident in the FCT and with verifiable means of livelihood.

Justice Halilu finally ordered that Turaki must appear every two weeks at the EFCC’s office to sign a register to be opened from today 13 July until he is presented before the Federal High Court in Jigawa when the court resumes from its annual vacation in September.
