Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election, securing the party’s ticket for a second term.

Kefas polled a total of 166,357 votes across the 16 Local Government Areas of the State, to defeat a former Minister of Transportation, Alhaji Muazu Sambo Jaji, who secured 4,110 votes in the exercise.

The Secretary of the election committee, Dr Haruna Yakubu, announced the result on behalf of the committee Chairman on Friday evening at Fast Track Hotel, Jalingo.

Reacting to the outcome, Governor Kefas thanked party members and supporters for their support, expressing confidence that the party and the electorate would support him again in the 2027 general elections.

However, the campaign organisation of Jaji rejected the outcome, alleging irregularities, vote buying and violence during the primary.

The Director of Communications and Research for Jaji’s campaign organisation, Dr Ishaq El-Kasim, told journalists in Jalingo that the process was marred by violence and irregularities.

He alleged that Jaji’s convoy was attacked by thugs, while the election did not hold in several designated polling centres.

He added that where voting took place, results were not properly counted.

El-Kasim further alleged that some unidentified political thugs disrupted voting in some areas, including Sarkin Dawaki Ward in Jalingo.

He also alleged that many of Jaji’s supporters were denied access to vote in some polling centres during the election.

The campaign organisation said it was compiling its complaints for submission to the APC appeal committee.
