Prof. Mohammad Sani Haruna, the former Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and an APC governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, has rejected the outcome of the party’s governorship primary and called for its nullification.

Addressing journalists at his campaign office in Keffi on Sunday, Haruna described the exercise as a “sham” and alleged widespread irregularities across the state.

“Anyone who believes in accountability before God Almighty and has a conscience should reject the result. The primary election was a sham and sheer allocation of figures in 80 per cent of the wards in the state. It was a slap on democracy and a desecration of the ballot,” he said.

Haruna explained that he was unable to vote because materials meant for his ward were diverted, yet results were later declared from the location.

He added that electoral officials and materials failed to arrive in several other wards, preventing many party members from participating.

“In many electoral wards, party members remained at the designated polling locations throughout the day and late into the night in anticipation of the arrival of electoral officials and materials that never came,” he said.

He also cited reports of intimidation and disruption in some polling areas, which he noted created fear and confusion. Consequently, he urged the party’s national secretariat to review the process and conduct a fresh primary in the state.

“I wholeheartedly urge the National Secretariat of the APC to review the primary election and conduct a fresh one in Nasarawa State. We have to live up to our reputation as a truly progressive and democratic party,” he said.

Haruna stated that his claims were backed by reports, documentary evidence, videos, photographs, and testimonies gathered from stakeholders across the state.

Despite these concerns, he said he remained committed to peace and urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding while consultations continue.

“We have commenced broad consultations with our supporters, stakeholders, political associates, elders, youth groups, women groups, community leaders, and well-wishers across the state and beyond. At the conclusion of these consultations, we shall formally communicate our position and future direction to the public,” he said.
