Kebbi abduction: Buhari’s Ex-aide schools US congressman

Bashir Ahmad, a former aide of late President Muhammadu Buhari, took time to enlighten a US lawmaker, Riley Moore, who claimed that the community where bandits abducted schoolgirls, on Monday, is a “Christian enclave”.

Daily Trust had reported how bandits attacked Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, Danko Wasagu area of Kebbi, on Monday, killing the Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducting 25 students.

Commenting on this via his X handle, Moore, who is one of the strong backers of US President Donald Trump on alleged Christian persecution in Nigeria, wrote, “Please join me in praying for the 25 girls who have been kidnapped and for the repose of the soul of their vice principal who was killed. While we don’t have all the details on this horrific attack, we know that the attack occurred in a Christian enclave in Northern Nigeria. The Nigerian government must do more to end the rampant violence.”

Reacting to the sad incident, Moore called for prayers for the 25 kidnapped girls and for the repose of the soul of their Vice Principal, who was k!lled during the attack. Moore went on to say that the incident happened in a Christian enclave in Northern Nigeria.

In his response, Bashir pointed out that Maga is a community dominated by Muslims.

“While appreciating your concern and praying for our sisters, @RepRileyMoore, it is important to correct a crucial detail here, the attack did not occur in a Christian enclave. It happened within a Muslim community and the victims themselves were Muslims. This is precisely why we keep saying that even you, Americans, either do not understand the complexity of Nigeria’s insecurity challenges, or you are deliberately pushing unholy narratives that risk worsening our already fragile unity.”

While redesignating Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern earlier this month, Trump had ask Moore to investigate the allege persecution of Christians in Nigeria and report back to him.
