A dismissed staff of the Nigerian Security and Minting Company PLC has filed a suit before the National Industrial Court in Abuja challenging his sack.

Baba Usman, worked as a security assistant with the company from December 21, 2007 until he was suspended and eventually dismissed on January 12, 2016.

In the suit by his counsel, Joe Abrahams (SAN), the claimant is demanding his re-instatement and the payment of all his salaries and allowances from the date of the termination of his appointment. 

Usman was suspended following alleged disappearance of 47 sheets of N500 denomination at the Abuja factory of the print on December 11, 2015. 

He had testified before a Disciplinary Committee on February 10 that he did not enter the print’s factory on the said date because his work schedule does not allow him to enter the factory.

He averred that the investigation committee did not find him culpable of any wrong doing only to be served with a letter of on May 18 without any indictment, query or warning.

“The reason for terminating the claimant’s appointment as conveyed in the letter of termination was that the claimant breached security by allowing some staff to move out of the factory without a pass-out on 11th December, 2015,” the lawyer averred.
