A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Ali Garba Tikau, has defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Tikau was the PDP governorship candidate in 2011 and 2023 before deciding to join the ADC.

The former Executive Secretary of the National Primary Education Commission announced his defection at his electoral ward in Tikau.

Addressing supporters and members of the ADC, Tikau expressed his commitment to the party and said the decision was taken collectively with his people.

“After serving the PDP peacefully for many years, we have decided to join the ADC for the overall development of our people,” he said.

“We are determined to put in our best to ensure the success of the ADC in the 2027 elections at all levels.”

The 2011 and 2023 Yobe governorship aspirant formally handed over his PDP membership card to the Tikau Ward Chairman of the party, Samaila Jalamawa.

Receiving the defected politician, the ADC Chairman in Tikau Ward, Babangida Dagare, welcomed him into the party.

He said the party remains committed to carrying all members along toward achieving success in the 2027 general elections.
