The College of Education (COE), Akwanga, Nasarawa State, says it has expelled 23 students for various examination malpractices during its first semester (2020/2021) examinations.
An investigation by Aso Chronicle revealed that the decision of the academic board was in line with Section 20.0 of the students’ information handbook.
He said the action was taken by the institution’s academic board at an emergency meeting held on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
A memo made available to our correspondent on Tuesday showed the names and levels of the affected students.
The students were directed to hand over their identity cards and any other college property in their possession to the Chief Security Officer (CSO) and vacate the college premises with immediate effect.
Confirming the incident to our correspondent, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr. Mustapha Ibrahim, said it is true the students were expelled as a result of examination malpractices, adding that usually there is a committee that worked on that and it is with the approval of the academic board.
He said: “All the victims appeared before the examination malpractices committee and after they were found guilty, the offences were taken to the academic board which at the end accepted action taken on them in line with the students’ information handbook.”
