The Chairman of the Rice Farmers Association in Kebbi State, Alhaji Sahabi Augie, has said the just concluded Agricultural Exhibition and Farmers’ Interactive Forum by Daily Trust and the Kebbi State Government is a demonstration of the commitment of Daily Trust to contribute its quota to the effort of improving Nigeria’s economy.

Augie said the show was an eye opener to farmers in the state and that it would go a long way to improve and encourage them in their agricultural production activities.

He said, “You can see how farmers from the 21 local government areas of the state brought maize, rice, banana, sugar cane, guinea corn, millet, cassava, onion, beans, fish, soybeans and other farm produce to the exhibition. This is a good development and in the right direction for our economic development as a state and a nation.”

Augie stated that bringing farmers of different farm produce together to interact would help the stakeholders and government to know what the needs and challenges of the sector were and at the end find ways of addressing them.

“This is a useful forum and exhibition; it will encourage our teeming youths to go into agriculture and reduce their restlessness,” he said.
