The organisers of the Expatriates Business Awards have stated that the forthcoming awards would honour the contributions of foreigners and foreign businesses to Nigeria’s economy.
The organisers announced that the 2025 edition of the event will hold on Sunday, July 6, in Lagos.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, the Director of Awards, Miss Odunola Abayomi, described the ceremony as a unique platform created to celebrate the economic contributions of expatriates, foreign-owned businesses, and migrant communities in Nigeria.
“With immense pride and a deep sense of purpose, we gather to reaffirm a vision that celebrates those who, though not born of this soil, have chosen to plant seeds here and watch them flourish,” she said.

According to Abayomi, the awards are distinct in their focus, setting themselves apart from traditional recognitions that spotlight only Nigerian nationals.
She stressed that foreign businesses have become vital players in Nigeria’s economic growth, contributing significantly to GDP, job creation, and innovation across sectors.
“Nigeria is not just a nation—it is a welcoming hub of opportunities and enterprise. And within this hub are men and women from diverse countries who have dared to dream, invest, and grow—right here on Nigerian soil,” she added.
The event is being organised by Pun Communications Ltd and held under the auspices of the TEBA Foundation for Humanity.
Abayomi explained that what started in 2020 as The Ethnic Business Awards has now evolved into The Expatriates Business Awards, with a sharper focus and a broader mandate.
She noted that the inaugural edition, also held at the Oriental Hotel, was a landmark event featuring popular media personality Daddy Freeze and Ghanaian actress Ella Mensah as hosts.
Preparations for the 2025 edition are already in motion, with public opinion polls, research, and nomination reviews currently underway to ensure a credible and transparent selection process.
“This year’s Awards Night promises to be a blend of cultural vibrancy and diplomatic grace, featuring exhibitions, music, comedy, and tributes to business excellence,” Abayomi said.
She called on the media, corporate organisations, the diplomatic corps, and the international community to join in celebrating the stories of resilience, innovation, and diversity that make up Nigeria’s business landscape.
“Let the countdown begin. Let the stories of resilience be told. Let the champions be celebrated,” she concluded.
