Vice President Kashim Shettima has assured Nigerians of more measures to tackle insecurity and poverty in the country.
Shettima, who spoke Friday shortly after paying Sallah homage to the Sultan in Sokoto said, “Be rest assured of more measures to safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians.”
He also assured that the present government would create more job opportunities for the teeming youths of the country.
Shettima admitted that the North was facing myriad of challenges, which he said required the support of all and sundry to be surmounted.
“I am here to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who asked me to convey his Sallah greetings and well wishes to the Sultan.”
He reaffirmed their loyalty to the traditional institution in the country.
The vice president was accompanied by the governors of Sokoto and Borno states, Ahmed Aliyu and Babagana Zulum respectively, as well as the former Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammadu Dingyadi and Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
Responding, Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar commended the new administration for the successes so far recorded.
“It is barely a month since your swearing in and you have done a lot,” he said.
He assured the vice president of the support of the traditional institution in the actualisation of their policies and programmes.
“We will support you 100 per cent; we will give you our words anytime. Insha Allah, we will support the government and do whatever it takes to maintain peace in our state and the country,” he said.
